Jean-Luc Darlix holds a PhD in Natural Science, as well as degrees in Alpine Nivology and Meteorology. His research is dedicated to the study of viruses, from E.coli T bacteriophages to human pathogenic viruses, including HIV-1 and HCV, by means of biochemical, genetic and electron microscopy techniques. He has collaborated with research institutes and hospitals in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, the USA, Canada and Chile. He is the author and co-author of 280 publications and 20 book chapters, and the editor of three books on viruses. During the past 20 years, he has been a GMO expert for the French and Canadian governments and a reviewer for various scientific journals, including Nucleic Acids Research, PNAS, PLOSONE, and Retrovirology.
