The evolution of medical education has stretched far beyond the historic “see one, do one and teach one” model of learning. Problem-Based Learning has emerged within medical education as an incredibly effective method of medical instruction. It is used to teach students how to think critically, formulate solutions and utilize the group learning environment to accelerate understanding at a pace that far exceeds that of didactic lectures. This book will help the reader harness the power of active learning through Problem-Based Learning, providing an understanding of how to conduct an outstanding Problem-Based-Learning session and properly prepare for it.

Dr Stacey Watt has dedicated herself to continual improvement and learning everything she can about how to assist others in achieving their personal and professional goals. This journey has propelled her to move beyond her Doctor of Medicine degree and seek out additional degrees in education and business. She is a board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist and a Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She practices within the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, New York, and she is the Program Director for both the Anesthesiology Residency Program and Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program at the Jacobs School of Medicine. Dr Patricia Fogarty Mack is an Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology, and has dedicated herself to ensuring the safest possible care for patients, and to developing educational programs to share best practices and advance knowledge amongst her peers and trainees. She is also the Vice Chair for Patient Safety and Quality Improvement and Director of Non-operating Room Anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York Presbyterian Hospital, and serves as Chair of the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Committee of the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists (NYSSA).
