Basic Epidemiology and Biostatistics: A Practical Guide integrates biostatistics, epidemiology and their applications to public health, clinical and social science projects. The book describes the role of epidemiological methods through study design and project execution, optimum interpretation of statistical techniques, and the clinical/public health significance of the results. The book also provides an analysis of statistical software outcomes and their interpretations, includes guidance for critical evaluation of published scientific reports, and provides technical aspects for decision making and research communication.

This book will help public health, health care, and biomedical researchers plan their research, execute plans, create in-depth analyses of their data, and present outputs from statistical testing.

Kishore Chaudhry is currently an Associate Professor, College of Dental Medicine, Roseman University of Health Sciences. He is a physician with specialization in public health as well as family medicine. The education and further training has helped me understand and practice epidemiology as well as statistics. After his specialization, he started with teaching and clinical practice at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (New Delhi, India), and subsequently joined Indian Council of Medical Research, where he was in-charge of cancer research programs for India. Dr. Chaudhry was also an advisor to several national and international organizations, such as WHO, NIH of USA, UICC, various departments of Government of India. He planned several innovative research activities along with novel analytic components. Besides authoring several papers and writing chapters for books, he was also involved in teaching research methodology and was examiner for specialized study courses. He left this position to join as Dean of the institute and head of the Department of Community and Family medicine at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhopal. After moving to USA, Dr. Chaudhry joined Roseman University of Health Sciences in Henderson, Nevada where he teaches research methodology to residents (30) and help them in their research activities besides pursuing his own research projects. Sharang Chaudhry is currently a PhD candidate in Statistics (completion in May 2019) and a data scientist working in the financial industry. His primary research interests include computational Bayesian Statistics and Machine Learning, where he deals with large-scale data sets. He has held multiple teaching positions at the University level where he has taught statistics and mathematics courses including R-programming. Furthermore, Sharang has considerable consulting experience with significant collaborations in public health and biomedical research. His dissertation, in fact, addresses statistical aspects of neuroimaging. Dr. Prashanti Bollu served as the Director of Dental Research and IRB Chair for the Roseman University of Health Sciences for several years prior to being appointed to as the Residency Program Director. She is a Board Certified Orthodontist and has active professional affiliations with multiple national and regional dental/orthodontic associations. Dr. Bollu has garnered extensive clinical, didactic, research and administrative skills. Having been involved in about a hundred graduate research projects in various mentoring capacities, Dr. Bollu understands the challenges that students have in comprehending the complex research design elements. Over the years, she has developed several strategies to make the research analysis applicable to clinical sciences.
