Dr. Beredjiklian has served as the chief editor of 5 orthopaedic textbooks, including the first edition of Review of Hand Surgery. He has an active interest in basic science research focusing on the modulation of scar formation after injury and surgery. This research has been funded by prestigious grants from the American Foundation of Hand Surgery, the Department of Defense, and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Beredjiklian maintains a full clinical practice and an active academic and teaching schedule. He serves on the editorial board of several peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals including Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research and the Journal of Hand Surgery. He has presented over 300 lectures nationally and internationally and is the author of over 200 scientific articles. He has a broad clinical and academic practice in hand and upper extremity surgery. He is the Chief of Hand Surgery for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine and Chief of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. He has lectured nationally and internationally and has written extensively in the field of hand surgery. He has contributed to the education and program development of resident and fellow educators from across the country and internationally as co-chair of the annual Resident Educators Workshop for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand for the past 15 years. In addition to his service on numerus orthopedic and hand surgical committees, he has chaired the Comprehensive Review in Hand Surgery and served as a board member of the American Association for Hand Surgery and Hand Surgery Endowment. Dr. Gallant has over 25 years of experience as a hand and upper extremity surgeon. He graduated from the University of Connecticut medical school, performed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Connecticut, and completed a fellowship in hand surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He also received a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Gallant is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and American Society for Surgery of the Hand, as well as past president of the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society. He has authored multiple publications and has given multiple presentations at national meetings in addition to serving on the editorial boards of the Journal of Hand Surgery and HAND. He has also served as course director for several academic meetings. Dr. Gallant has served as chairman of the AAOS Hand and Wrist instructional course committee, as chairman of the AAOS State Orthopaedic Societies Committee, and as Editor-in -Chief of the AAOS Hand and Wrist self-assessment examination. He now currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the AAOS Orthopedic Knowledge Update self-assessment examination. In addition, he have served as a co-author/editor of the annual ASSH Hand and Wrist self-assessment examination.
