State of the Art Surgical Coronary Revascularization is the most authoritative textbook ever dedicated to the art and science of surgical coronary revascularization, with 71 chapters, organized in 9 sections, and written by over 100 recognized world experts. It covers every aspect of the surgical management of coronary artery pathology and ischaemic heart disease. It provides extensive sections detailing pathophysiology, evaluation and medical and percutaneous management of ischaemic heart disease as well general outcomes and quality assessment for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Pre-, intra- and postoperative management of CABG patients is emphasized in detail as are the core surgical principles in the conduct of CABG, with special focus on the selection of conduits and how to optimize the performance of both on- and off-pump surgery to reduce morbidity and mortality. There are detailed sections on how to improve outcomes with both arterial and venous bypass grafts.

This comprehensive textbook also covers in detail less invasive approaches for CABG, CABG in special clinical situations and when CABG is combined with concomitant surgical procedures. In addition to underpinning all chapters with a strong and updated evidence basis, crucial practical surgical techniques are emphasised throughout, making this textbook the indispensable companion of all adult cardiac surgeons and allied health professionals interested in surgical coronary revascularization.

David P Taggart qualified from Glasgow University in 1981 and obtained MD with Honours in 1989 and PhD in 2000. Basic cardiac surgery training in Glasgow and completed at the Royal Brompton Hospital. Consultant cardiac Surgeon at the John Radcliffe Hospital 1995-present and Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery at University of Oxford 2004-present. Have published over 300 peer-reviewed papers mainly in the field of coronary Artery Bypass Grafting. Past President of the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (2010-12) John D Puskas graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University in 1982, obtained his MD from Harvard Medical School in 1986 and earned a Master's degree in Surgical Science from University of Toronto in 1991. He completed General Surgical Training at the Massachusetts General Hospital and trained in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Emory University. He serves as Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery and Chairman of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Mount Sinai Morningside, West and Downtown Hospitals. Dr Puskas has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers and given more than 300 invited lectures nationally and internationally, mainly in the field of Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting. He is Past President of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery and is cofounder with Professor David Taggart of the International Coronary Congress, the only major international annual symposium dedicated to state of the art surgical coronary revascularization.
