This book reviews current immunotherapeutic strategies for gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies, including immune composition, immune checkpoint inhibitors, cell therapy, and peptide vaccines used to protect against esophageal, gastric, hepato-biliary, pancreatic and colorectal cancers. It also discusses the current challenges of using immunotherapy for the treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies.

The book reviews highly sensitive and specific immunomarkers for the detection of GI malignancies, and examines therapeutic vaccines and the major cytokines involved in GI immunotherapy, as well as their basic biology and clinical applications. In closing, the book explores various aspects of computational biology for the detection and treatment of GI malignancies.

Dr Vadde Ramakrishna is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, Yogi Vemana University, India. He obtained his MSc and PhD, both in Biochemistry, from Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur, India, and subsequently received a DBT CREST Award to pursue advanced training in cancer research at Pennsylvania State University and Colorado State University, USA. He is currently using in vitro, in vivo and in silico models to explore the role of dietary bioactive compounds in both the development and prevention of cancer through a ‘polypharmacology’ approach. He has published over 75 research papers in prominent international journals and has presented more than 40 papers at national and international conferences. He serves as an editorial board member for several international journals, and is an Associate Fellow of Andhra Pradesh Akademi of Sciences.   Dr Ganji PurnachandraNagaraju is a faculty member at the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Emory University School of Medicine. Holding a DSc from Berhampur University in Berhampur, India, his research focuses on translational projects concerning gastrointestinal malignancies. He has published over 90 research papers in prominent international journals and has presented more than 50 papers at national and international conferences. Dr Nagaraju is the author and editor of several books and serves as an editorial board member for numerous academic journals. He is an associate member of the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute, and has received several international awards for his contributions.
