In her new book, Dr. Allison Siebecker reveals her accumulated wisdom and experience after many years of helping patients manage Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth. After dedicating her career to helping those with SIBO in her private practice, she is now sharing with everyone a treatment approach that identifies SIBO, reduces the bacterial overgrowth, and sets patients on a path to healing. Building on established evidence-based research and protocols, Dr. Siebecker's approach to SIBO uses a combination of diet, traditional and herbal antibiotics, an elemental diet formula, prokinetics, and lifestyle changes.
Allison Siebecker, ND, MSOM, LAc, has worked in the nutritional field since 1988 and is a 2005 graduate of The National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM), where she earned her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and her Masters in Oriental Medicine. Dr. Siebecker has specialized in SIBO since 2011, devoting all her research, teaching and patient care to SIBO. She sees SIBO patients exclusively and serves as a second and third opinion referral doctor for patients who have failed previous treatments. In 2013, Dr. Siebecker co-created the first SIBO specialty clinic (SIBO Center for Digestive Health at NUNM) and has guided thousands of patients through the complexities of testing, multiple types of treatments, and on to management, relapse prevention, and remission. A passionate educator, Dr. Siebecker's perspective as a specialty referral doctor has allowed her to identify common pitfalls in SIBO care, and how to overcome them to increase overall success, which she shares in her lectures and articles. She's been teaching physicians, medical students and patients internationally since 2012, through conference lectures, online classes, podcasts and her free educational website siboinfo.com. Dr. Siebecker developed and teaches the first-ever SIBO curriculum at a medical university (NUNM), where her class is used as a prerequisite for students applying for Gastroenterology rotation. She also co-created the NUNM SIBO Symposium (the first SIBO Conference); and the SIBO Summits I and II (the first online-only SIBO Conferences). In 2005, 2013, and 2015 Dr. Siebecker received the Best in Naturopathy award from the Townsend letter for her articles on SIBO, and continues to write and speak at conferences to deliver the most cutting-edge information on SIBO to the medical communities.
