Developmental Effects of Irradiation on the Brain of the Embryo and Fetus

This publication represents the data relating to radiation-induced effects on the central nervous system, especially radiation-induced mental retardation; assesses the gestational age at risk and the quantitative risk at low doses; analyses these effects in the light of what is known about cell survival, proliferation, repopulation and differentiation in the development of the fetal brain; and identifies the needs for future research.
