In recent times, infertility diagnosis and treatment has stood out as one of the most rapidly evolving areas in medicine. The authors of this book have long standing experience in the field of infertility prompting them to publish this book in conjunction with other experts from around the world. The emphasis of the book is on clinical management of patients undergoing assisted conception treatment, it will be useful for residents and postgraduates in addition to practicing clinicians. Advanced Infertility Treatment gives the reader both the background, the diagnostic evaluation and work up as well as the vast variety of modern treatment options. In certain sections we are also guided beyond present practice into future possibilities. The book is divided into three sections, the first is 'Infertility' where both endoscopic and sonographic techniques are discussed in the evaluation of peritoneal and peritubal adhesions as well as tubal function.
The second section is 'Anovulation' and focuses on the reasons for hormonal disturbances causing infertility, such as evaluation of prolactin secretion, but also on the use of antioestrogens, like clomiphene, gonadotrophins, GnRH agonists and antagonists in normal cycling women. Section Three 'Assisted Repoductive Technologies (ART)' discusses options from a patient selection point of view, both conventional IVF and ICSI
