The eighth volume in the set of research monographs dealing with natural and experimental lesions in laboratory animals. This volume provides al nomenclature and gives information on recording and evaluating pathologic data for those studying the safety of foods, drugs, chemicals, and other substances in the environment.
This volume is one of a set of concise, well-illustrated and authoritative studies of natural and experimental lesions of laboratory animals (rat, mouse and hamster) arranged by organ systems. Carefully identified pathologic features are correlated with biologic, toxicologic and behavioral data. The frequency and significance of specific lesions in different species and strains from different geographic regions and laboratory environments are depicted graphically. The significance of each lesion is considered and comparisons are made with other species including man. The authors are specialists working in laboratories throughout the world, and each contribution is critically reviewed by an international editorial board. As with other volumes in the set, an internationally applicable nomenclature for recording and evaluating pathologic data produced in safety studies is proposed.
