Created in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Corrections, A New Direction (AND) is a flexible, evidence-based, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) curriculum that treats addiction in justice-involved clients and is proven to reduce recidivism. This module, along with the Criminal and Addictive Thinking and Alcohol and Other Drug Education modules, typically follows Introduction to Treatment. Justice-involved clients reflect on past relationships, improve communication skills, so they may build and maintain sober, crime-free relationships. Workbooks include quick review exercises to reinforce lessons, reflection exercises that bridge content with real-life experience, and Thinking Reports to ensure treatment methods are part of ongoing aftercare.
