The treatment of arrhythmias in heart failure continues to be a therapeutic dilemma. In the past it has not been uncommon for compensated cardiac failure to be converted into decompensated cardiac failure by the addition of negative intropic anti-arrhythmic substances. The present book addresses this dilemma by putting special emphasis on the two basic approaches to treatment, namely the hemodynamic and the anti-arrhythmic ones. The protagonists of each approach describe the pros and cons. The book aims to indicate causes for the shortcomings of present day anti-arrhythmic therapy in heart failure and to demonstrate perspectives for the future.
