The purpose of this manual is to provide practical, easy-to-follow guidelines for the current evaluation, non-invasive and invasive diagnosis, nonoperative and surgical treatment of patients with acute and chronic venous disorders. The book is written by recognized experts in venous disease, most being leaders or founding members of the American Venous Forum, an organization dedicated to research, education and clinical investigation in venous disease. The organization of the manual is traditional, emphasizing basic anatomy, pathology and pathophysiology in the fist section of the book, followed by the most current view of the diagnosis of venous disease, emphasizing the superiority of duplex scanning in the evaluation of acute deep venous thrombosis and chronic venous insufficiency. The book includes information on the use of modern imaging techniques such as fast computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance angiography in venous disease. The manual is aimed at clinicians involved in the treatment of venous disease, fellows in vascular surgery, vascular radiology or vascular medicine and should be of interest to junior doctors and medical students.
