This book discusses vegetable oil based biolubricants and their applications in the power distribution industry. The book discusses additives and enhancements to make vegetable oils suitable for use as lubricating oils and transformer oils in power plants and power distribution grids.
This book discusses vegetable oil based biolubricants and their applications in the power distribution industry. Vegetable oil based lubricants offer significant advantages over petroleum-based lubricants, including biodegradability, cost-effectiveness, renewability, and lower environmental effects. This book provides a detailed literature survey of modified vegetable oils. It discusses the physical and chemical properties of vegetable oil, and their effects on its applications in tribology. The  book discusses additives and enhancements to make vegetable oils suitable for use as lubricating oils and transformer oils in power plants and power distribution grids. The contents of the book will be useful to researchers and professionals as well as policy makers and standards agencies.

Dr. Dhorali Gnanasekaran (M.Sc, M.Phil, Ph.D) is currently working as a scientific officer at the Dielectric Materials Division, Central Power Research Institute, Bengaluru, India. He received his Ph.D in polymer chemistry at the University of Madras, under the supervision of Dr. B.S.R. Reddy in CSIR—Central Leather Research Institute, Chennai, India. After completion of his doctorate, he joined the University of Pretoria, South Africa for his postdoctoral studies under South African prestigious Vice-chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2012. His research interests include the preparation of Eco-friendly polymer nanocomposites for gas permeation studies, and Biodegradable polymers and additives as eco-friendly/Green lubricants. Especially, biodegradable, renewable oil (Vegetable oil) as insulating oil/Lubricants for electric power generation sector. He has published 20 research articles in peer-reviewed International/National journals, 1 review article, 5 book chapters andone book completely.  Dr.Venkata Prasad Chavidi is currently working as a scientific officer at the Dielectric Materials Division, Central Power Research Institute, Bengaluru, India. He holds M.Sc (2005) and Ph.D (2010) in Polymer Science and Technology from Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Ananthapuramu, Andhra Pradesh, India. He worked as a Research Professor at Changwon National University, and Korea University, South Korea during 2011–2013. He has been awarded South Korean prestigious Brain Korea 21 fellowship. His current research areas are solid and liquid dielectric materials (mineral oils and vegetable esters) and other research interests are Polymer matrices for drug delivery, Polymer membranes for dehydration of alcohols, Polymer blends and natural fiber, and Polymer composites and Fuel cell membranes. He has published almost 40 research articles in National/International journals and presented around 20 National/International conferences.
