James C. Melville, DDS, FACS, is Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral, Head & Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Houston, Texas, USA. He graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, Ann Arbor, MI, in 2005 and subsequently completed a General Practice Residency at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) in 2006 and was appointed and served as an Assistant Professor until 2007. He completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2012 and then a Fellowship in Oral, Head & Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Melville is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons, and American College of Surgeons. He has currently contributed to 6 chapters in major Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Tissue Engineering textbooks and is the author of more than 12articles in peer-reviewed journals. He acts as a reviewer for the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Triple OOOO journal. Jonathan Shum, DDS, MD, FACS, FRCD(C), is Associate Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as the Fellowship director of Oral, Head & Neck Oncology and Microvascular Surgery. He gained his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Toronto, Canada, in 2005 and his Doctor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, in 2010. In 2011 he completed the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at New York Presbyterian Hospital of Cornell, and he has since completed fellowships in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery (Head and Neck Surgical Associates, Providence Portland Medical Center) and Maxillofacial Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery (University of Maryland Medical Center/R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, Baltimore). He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (2015) and the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (2016). He acts as a reviewer for several leading journals in the field. He is on the editorial board of Triple OOOO Journal.
