This is a practical guide, written by more than 30 contributors, focusing on the potentials and limitations of transvaginal sonography for the early detection of ovarian carcinoma. The text is divided into four sections. The first states the clinical problem; the second describes the laboratory and imaging tests that are available; the third focuses on transvaginal colour Doppler sonography; and the fourth on the experience from different programmmes which offer screening.
