Drug Therapy for Asthma comprises a comprehensive single source with state-of-the-art discussions of such topics as respiratory smooth muscle biochemistry and physiology ... receptor pharmacology ... mediators ... pharrnacokinetics and pharrnacodynamics of asthma drugs ... physiological responses, and measurement and interpretation of the bronchodilator response. In addition, it comprehensively reviews the latest pharmacological developments of drugs in current use, including beta adrenergic agonists, xanthines, cromolyn sodium, ketotifen, corticosteroids, and anticholinergics ... compares management practices in the U.S. and U.K. ... goes beyond the usual clinical text by including more basic science and theoretical· background .•. gives much more detail on drug management than other sources ... and describes drug formulas, preparations, and dosage regimens in a convenient appendix.
Complete with over 270 diagrams, tables, and photographs plus more than 3,500 bibliographic references to the latest literature in the field, Drug Therapy for Asthma is an essential volume for pulmonologists, pharmacologists, physiologists, pediatricians, allergists, immunologists, chest physicians, and medical ·and graduate students concerned with pharmacology and asthma.
