This is an overview of Gadolinium-DTPA enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the body. The purpose of this monograph is to make information regarding whole-body applications of Gadolinium-DTPA available to radiologists and interested clinicians.
Gadolinium-DTPA, the first paramagnetic contrast agent available for magnetic resonance imaging, has added considerably to the information obtainable from MRI examination of the brain and spine. With the advent of improved hardware and software, contrast-enhanced MRI is now increasingly applied to other organ systems. This is an overview of Gadolinium-DTPA enhanced MRI of the body. The purpose of this monograph is to make information regarding whole-body applications of Gadolinium-DTPA available to radiologists and interested clinicians. Contributors from various fields review the basics of constrast-enhanced MRI, as well as the whole range of body applications. Chapters on different body regions define examination strategies, recommend specific sequences, review both normal and the most important pathologic MRI findingsm and give a selection of recommended review articles and original contributions. A table summarizes the information provided by each chapter. Structured according to clinical situations, tables provide an overview for the radiologist who actually performs an MR study, and for the clinician who has to choose between CT ad MR examinations.
Subjects covered include important new fields, such as contrast-enhanced MR mammography, dynamic MR studies of liver, head and neck tumours and functional imaging of the brain. To provide a really up-to-date review, the most recent publications on contrast-enhanced MRI have been included.
