Provides a comprehensive analysis of the current management of vascular disease as it relates to treatment of extracranial cerebrovascular and supra-aortic trunk disease, new approaches to lower extremity arterial and venous problems, and recent cutting-edge developments in open and endovascular approaches to treat aortic and visceral arterial disease.
Current Vascular Surgery: Northwestern Vascular Symposium is an annual publication that addresses contemporary topics and controversies in vascular and endovascular surgery, providing a comprehensive overview of the field's recent evolution. This volume is the result of the 41st Annual Vascular Symposium sponsored by the Division of Vascular Surgery, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University and held in Chicago on 8-10 December, 2016. The contributing authors were selected on the basis of recent peer-reviewed publications and national societal presentations; all are recognized leaders in their disciplines.

This volume provides a comprehensive analysis of the current management of vascular disease as it relates to treatment of extracranial cerebrovascular and supra-aortic trunk disease, new approaches to lower extremity arterial and venous problems, and recent cutting-edge developments in open and endovascular approaches to treat aortic and visceral arterial disease, as well as novel techniques for hemodialysis access, complex venous problems, and upper extremity disorders.

Each chapter has as its basis a presentation at the 41st Annual Vascular Symposium, but includes more in-depth details than is possible in a symposium presentation.

Fifty-two chapters in ten sections covering the full range of vascular surgery.
Clinical "pearls" from internationally-recognised experts.
Includes perspectives on the history and evolution of the field.
