This case study framework acknowledges that safe, effective care in a variety of settings unfolds from a nurse's knowledge of many health care issues - physical assessment, pathophysiology, laboratory and diagnostic testing, pharmacology and treatments. This guide co-ordinates and prioritizes information from each of these perspectives for every major condition, teaching the nurse to provide safe and effective nursing interventions and build a rationale-based approach to client-centred nursing care. Critical thinking questions conclude each case study and research box which challenge students to address client-care problems.
