Transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasonography allows the intracranial circulation to be examined noninvasively and has been used in patients with cerebrovascular disease when angiography has been considered unnecessary or dangerous. The ability to monitor changes within the cerebral circulation has opened new research avenues including intraoperative monitoring and embolus detection. As a result, interest in TCD has steadily grown. This book provides an up-to-date reference source for the clinical and research applications of TCD.
