The thirty-three articles collected here describe the state of the art in chemical, analytical, biological, biomedical, and clinical endotoxin research. They deal with the analysis and synthesis of lipid A, treat the relationship between structures and biological activities, and report on the elucidation of the mechanisms of the Limulus-test and the problems in obtaining a standard preparation for the quantitation of endotoxic activities.
