The object of this work is to enable the GP to be aware of the systemic implications of ophthalmic signs and symptoms encountered in the surgery. A series of questions of the "What shall I do if/when...?" variety are posed by a GP and answered by an ophthalmologist. They vary from the extremely common, "What should one do with corneal abrasions?", to the more philosophical, "Can oral beta blockers be used to treat raised intra-ocular pressure?", and the downright awkward, "Should a man who can see in the day but not at night be classed as fit to drive?". Bev Daily has also co-authored "Questions and Answers in Neurology".

Part 1 Questions: testing visual acuity; blind registration; opticians and refractive errors; ambylopia and squint; eyelids; external eye disorders; glaucoma; steroids and the eye; virus infections; iritis; cataracts; senile macular degeneration; retinal detatchment and floaters; vascular disorders of the fundus; neurologist or ophthalmologist; trauma; miscellaneous. Part 2 When to refer and to whom.
