This volume discusses, in a manner that will be readily understood by non-specialists, the nature of an early human embryo, what is meant by experimentation on it and what reasons and justifications there might be for such work. Part 3 The reasons for infertility. Part 4 Ways of overcoming the problem of infertility: infertile women and test-tube babies and surrogacy; infertile men. Part 5 Some aspects of ethics and law in assisted reproduction: the danger of "dehumanization"; the problems of "competing rights"; ectogenesis - possible and permissible?; problems of legal control.
