Gives guidance on the use of imaging technologies including MRI, ultrafast CT scanning and high-resolution CT. The authors integrate MRI concepts into areas of chest imaging and compare the clinical utility of CT and MRI, notably in the investigation of cardiovascular disease and thoracic neoplasia
The second edition of this reference provides guidance on the use of imaging technologies, including MRI, ultrafast CT scanning, and high-resolution CT. The authors integrate current MRI concepts into all areas of chest imaging and compare the clinical utility of CT and MRI, particularly in the investigation of cardiovascular disease and thoracic neoplasia. The principles of thoracic MRI are explained in the expanded introductory chapter, which also describes CT techniques using today's faster scanners and improved reconstruction algorithms. New chapters detail the role of CT and MRI in evaluating lung cancer and the use of current technologies, including MRI and ultrafast of high-resolution CT in paediatric patients. The expanded chapter on diffuse lung disease highlights the applications of high-resolution CT in the diagnosis of parenchymal pathology. Other chapters review developments in diagnostic use of CT and MRI. Complementing the text are hundreds of MRI scans and new CT scans.
