This manual is intended to assist health education officers, midwives and health visitor teachers in running training courses for those who are directly involved in teaching parentcraft. It provides a framework for developing skills courses and suggests sessions and exercises.

This manual, the outcome of a research project to monitor and evaluate courses for those who teach parentcraft, is intended to provide a framework, with a variety of materials, for running a group skills course in antenatal training. Its purpose is to help health education officers, midwife and health visitor teachers, and managers, who are involved in mounting training courses for midwives and health visitors who themselves are or will be teaching members of the public.
