This book, intended primarily for medical students, junior hospital staff and general practitioners, has been written to help those concerned in the care of diabetics to understand the home, laboratory and ward side-room tests that are essential to the control of the disease. The tests vary in their level of complexity. The authors have, therefore, given an assessment of the amount of information that can be obtained with equipment of different degrees of sophistication, ranging from visual assessment of colour changes to microprocessor-controlled equipment, in order to cover facilities likely to be available in services with widely differing resources.
