Ahmed Ibrahim Fathelrahman is Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Qassim University, Saudi Arabia. Before joining Qassim University in 2011, he worked with the Ministry of Health of Sudan for 13 years in different units and departments starting as a quality control pharmacist in the Central Medical Supplies Public Corporation (CMS) Sudan (1997-2000); a team supervisor and an inspector with the Revolving Drug Fund, Khartoum State (2000-2002); and a head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, General Directorate of Pharmacy and a supervisor of the Drug Information Centre of the Ministry of Health Khartoum State (2005-2006). Ahmed Fathelrahman also worked with the General Directorate of Planning and Development of the Ministry of Health of Khartoum State in the Department of Research and then he was responsible for Monitoring and Evaluation in the Department of Planning (2010-2011). During the periods 2002- early 2005 and late 2006- early 2010, respectively, he was pursuing his MSc degree in clinical toxicology and his PhD in Public Health Pharmacy from Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Dr. Fathelrahman has authored about 50 articles and titles representing publications in international peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations besides other articles published in some websites or local journals. Dr. Fathelrahman's areas of research interest include Clinical toxicology, Drug and Poison Information & Literature Evaluation, Public Health Pharmacy, Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacoeconomics and Drugs of Abuse, particularly Tobacco. He was a supervisor of the research of about 30 medical or pharmacy students at levels of Bachelor, Pharm D, M.Sc., MD and Fellowships and he acted as a reviewer for about 20 international peer-reviewed journals and international conferences related to the fields of Pharmacy practice, Public Health, Tobacco Control & Clinical Toxicology.
Fathelrahman acted as a member of Research Ethical Committees of some institutions including the Ministry of Health of Khartoum State; the Community Medicine Council of Sudan Medical Specializations Board; the College of Pharmacy, Qassim University , Saudi Arabia and the Qassim Regional Ethical Committee for Medical and Health Research, Saudi Arabia. He is also a member of the Association for the Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence (ATTUD), the Society for Research on Nicotine & Tobacco (SRNT), the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics & Outcomes Research (ISPOR), the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology - Gulf Region Chapter and the Public Health in the Arab World (PHAW).
