This colour atlas is aimed at clinicians and surgeons treating patients with anorectal disorders. It explains how preoperative staging using endorectal sonography can play an essential role in the evaluation of the patient with anorectal cancer. For each patient, a summary of the pertinent history, physical examination and endoscopic findings are described in detail and compared to operative and histologic findings. The type of operation performed and clinical outcome are included to complete the clinical picture.
