Sheela Vemu is an associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Northern Illinois University where she teaches courses in human biology. She also serves the university as a Course Transformation Project fellow working to create a culture of self-directed active learning in the non-major classroom. Lisa Freeman earned her doctoral degree in pharmacology at Ohio State University. Subsequently, she was a post-doctoral fellow and research scientist at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and a professor of veterinary pharmacology at Kansas State University. She is currently executive vice president and provost at Northern Illinois University.
