Each chapter of this book has a brief abstract, introduction, and conclusion. Chapters 1 and 2 cover the basic principles of estimating energy requirements of an individual and assessment of nutritional status and body composition. Readers will find these sections very useful as nutritional assessment and estimating energy requirement are the fundamental steps before planning a dietary schedule. Chapter 3 discusses the existing evidence of the role of nutrition and lifestyle factors in the etiology of obesity and diabetes. The nutritional goals in the management of obesity and diabetes are emphasized in chapter 4.
