Lawrence B. Bone, M.D., is an orthopaedic surgeon and Professor and Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, N.Y. Dr. Bone is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserves; he has served as chief of orthopaedics with a Forward Surgical Team (FST) in Afghanistan and is chief of the 1st FST out of New York. Dr. Bone first received his board certification from the American Board of General Surgery in 1979 and from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1988. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Association for Surgery of Trauma and is a Past President of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association. Dr. Bone has been a visiting professor at numerous universities and medical schools both within the United States and overseas. He is a past Section Editor - Orthopaedics for the Journal of Trauma and is a member of the editorial boards of Bone and Joint Diseases and the Archives of Orthopaedics & Trauma Surgery. He has published widely and has given more than 100 presentations at national and international meetings.
Christiaan Nikolaje Mamczak, D.O., is Attending Staff Orthopaedic Surgeon, Metric Associate Investigator, and member of the Wounded Warrior Program at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Portsmouth, Va. He is also Assistant Professor of Surgery at the F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, Md. Dr. Mamczak is a member of the OTA Disaster Management Preparedness Committee and of the AONA Musculoskeletal Trauma Faculty. He became a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2010. Dr. Mamczak serves in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Commander, Medical Corps and as an Attending Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon. In 2010 to 2011 he was Head Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon at NATO Role 3 Multinational Medical Unit, Kandahar, Afghanistan. He has been awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the NATO ISAF Medal, and the Navy Overseas Service Ribbon.
