In the growing world of vein clinics and vein centres, increasing numbers of doctors, nurses and vascular technologists are working in "Phlebology" - the study and treatment of veins. This book has 22 chapters, written by world-renowned experts in venous surgery, covers all of the latest advances in Phlebology.
Advances in Phlebology and Venous Surgery Volume 1 contains chapters covering many of the most interesting areas of Phlebology. Chapters are all written by international experts in their own fields. Subjects covered include:

- endovenous thermoablation (Radiofrequency / Laser / Steam)
- non-thermal endovenous ablation (Glue / MOCA)
- discussion of LEED
- venous leg ulcers – due to superficial and deep venous disease
- transvaginal duplex ultrasound for the diagnosis of venous reflux
- pelvic veins – diagnosis and treatment for reflux and obstructive disease
as well as other relevant subjects.

This book will have something of interest for everyone who is interested in Phlebology and/or Venous Surgery.

This book is produced by COP College of Phlebology and some of the contents were presented at the COP International Veins Meeting in London in March 2017. The College of Phlebology annual conference is held each March in London, UK.

Mark Whiteley is an internationally recognised expert in varicose veins, venous surgery for varicose veins and venous surgery and pelvic congestion syndrome. He introduced endovenous surgery into the UK in March 1999, performing the first endovenous operation in the UK using radiofrequency ablation. With his colleague Judy Holdstock, he invented the TRLOP technique to close incompetent perforating veins in the leg, in 2001. This is now erroneously called PAPS by some, having been "re-invented" at a later date. Mark set up The Whiteley Clinic in Guildford in the UK in 2001 and has Whiteley Clinics in Guildford, London and Bristol. Mark is a visiting Professor at the University of Surrey and has over 100 peer-reviewed publications in venous surgery and pelvic congestion syndrome. He has supervised several PhD students and has won several international and national prizes for his work in venous surgery and pelvic congestion syndrome. Mark founded The College of Phlebology with an aim to teach endovenous surgery and the science of venous investigations and treatments to all those interested in Phlebology. He runs an international meeting in London each year and runs regular training courses in the UK for those wanting to learn or improve their endovenous surgery techniques. Mark is regularly asked to lecture at international veins meetings and is now publishing his work in a series of books aimed at different levels. His "Understanding" books are aimed at those interested in venous surgery, varicose veins and leg ulcers both public and interested professionals. His "Advances" books collections of chapters written by world experts in their fields, on all areas of venous investigations and treatments. Emma Dabbs has a degree in neurosciences and has worked at The Whiteley Clinic as a researcher in 2016-8. She has several peer-revied papers from her research with Prof Mark Whiteley and has lectured nationally and internationally on varicose veins and endovenous surgery.
