The Lead Editor of this proposed title is Jeb Hallett, who is based at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. There he holds the position of Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, the Director of Education for the Department of Surgery, Professor of Surgery, and the Director of the Mayo Gonda Vascular Center, an outpatient center at Mayo which performs over 6000 consults per year. He was an examiner for the American Board of Surgery between 1992 and 1998, is a member of the Advisory Council for Vascular Surgery for the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the program committee of the ISCS, which he will chair in 2002. Prof Hallett originally trained as a journalist. He was voted Teacher of the Year in Surgical Specialties by Mayo students in 1999. Jeb has written 4 books, as well as contributing to Strandness and van Breda and Rutherford, and is an editor on the board of the Journal of Vascular Surgery. He hasan excellent reputation as one of the front runners in American vascular surgery and his name and institution will be a great asset to this book.

Professor Joe Mills is the Chief of Vascular Surgery at the University of Arizona, and the Director of the Vascular Fellowship Program. He has a reputation for being good, solid and reliable. He is well known in American Vascular Surgery, will chair the program committee of the Society of Vascular Surgery in 2001, and writes questions for both the written and oral parts of the Boards examination. He has just published a book on Management of Chronic Lower Limb Ischemia with Edward Arnold and is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Vascular Surgery.

Jonothan Earnshaw trained atGuy's Hospital and was the Royal College of Surgeons Hunterian Professor during 1992-1993. He is the current chairman of research of the Vascular Surgical Society. He is a Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons and has been an associate editor of the British Journal of Surgery since 1995. He recently self-published a book on evidence-based vascular surgery, and has a special interest in this area. He has a good reputation in British vascular surgery and again is seen as someone who is hard-working, a meticulous editor and reliable, someone who "gets the job done".

Finally, Jim Reekers has recently become a Professor of Radiology at the AMC in Amsterdam. He is young, dynamic and highly motivated. Dutch interventional radiology is verywell funded and many of the cutting-edge studies originate from The Netherlands. Although European practice varies widely from country to country, particularly in relation to intervention and treatment, The Netherlands is closest to the UK in approach. Prof Reekers has been brought onto the project to comment on the Endovascular sections and to help lend an international flavour tothe book.
