This book is structured and presented to be a practical, quick reference for physicians to use when treating sports injuries. It will also be a useful tool to general practitioners, nuclear medicine specialists and orthopedic surgeons. The authors have drawn from their extensive, authoritative collection of nuclear images to present in the atlas and from their experience at the forefront of nuclear medicine.
Robert Cooper, FRACP, DDU, is a staff physician in nuclear medicine at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He also works in private practice at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital and at Dee Why Nuclear Medicine also in Sydney. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and holds a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound. As part of his Nuclear Medicine training, he completed a fellowship at the University of Michigan. Stephen Allwright is a consultant in nuclear medicine at Mater Misericordiae Hospital and at Dee Why Nuclear Medicine in Sydney and is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He completed his nuclear medicine training with a fellowship at the Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles and holds a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound. Jock (Ian F) Anderson was Director of Medical Imaging for the Olympic Games, Sydney 2000. He is a medical graduate of Sydney University and a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology. He is also a Fellow of the Australian College of Sports Physicians, having been awarded an Honorary Fellowship for his work in teaching the trainees of the College. He is Visiting Lecturer in Musculoskeletal Imaging at the Department of Anatomy, Sydney University and in Sports Medicine Imaging at the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, University of NSW. In addition, Jock was Visiting Radiologist at the Royal North Shore, Sydney Adventist and Hornsby Kuring-gai Hospitals and a consultant to Sports Imaging at North Sydney Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Centre. He was also Medical Officer for NSW Swimming, a member of the Australian Sports Medicine Federation and Committee Member of the Australasian Musculoskeletal Imaging Group.
