Based on the 1st edition this 2nd edition volume provides a completely revised comprehensive overview of the current state of the development in magnetic resonance (MR) vascular imaging. The basic principles and technical features of MR angiography are outlined, consideration being given to both flow-dependent and flow-independent contrast-enhanced approaches. Specific chapters focus on image display techniques, blood flow quantification, hardware configurations, and the limitations and artifacts of MR angiography. The well-established approach of providing a clinical overview of MR angiography in different vascular areas has been continued, with the presentation of a large number of and representative MR angiograms based on current acquisition techniques. Suitable examination protocols for different vascular regions and lesions are described to facilitate correct application of the technique. Systematic comparison is made with other vascular imaging techniques. TOC:The Vascular System: Topographic Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathophysiology of Blood Flow; Definition of MR Angiography; Basic Principles of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging; K-Space and Resolution; Flow-Dependent and Flow-Independent Acquisition Techniques; Spatial Versus Temporal Resolution; Contrast Media in MR Angiography; Image Display Techniques; Quantification of Blood Flow; Hardware Configurations; Artifacts and Limitations; Intracranial Vessels; The Carotid and Vertebral Arteries; The Thoracic Aorta; The Coronary Arteries; The Pulmonary Vessels; The Abdominal Aorta and Its Branches; Arteries of the Extremities; Veins of the Body and the Extremities; The Splenoportal Venous System; Guidance of Intravascular Therapeutic Procedures: Current Status and Future.- Intravascular Implants: Safety and Artifacts; Subject Index; List of Contributors.
