Dr. Richard J. Schanler, MD, FAAP, FABM, is the Director of Neonatal Services at Cohen Children's Medical Center and Northwell Health in Long Island, New York. He also serves as Program Director for the Fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. He is Professor of Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and Research Investigator at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research of Northwell Health. Nutrition in the NICU is his major research and clinical interest. He has conducted studies focused on the effects human milk on the recipient premature infant and the how processing affects the composition of human milk. He has over 100 publications in this area. Dr. Schanler is a member of the American Pediatric Society, the Society for Pediatric Research, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a former President of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine and of the International Society for Research in Human Milk and Lactation. He was a past Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Breastfeeding and is the Senior Editor of the AAP/ACOG Breastfeeding Handbook for Physicians, now in its third edition. Sharon B. Mass, MD, FACOG, FABM, is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist in private practice in Morristown, NJ, and serves as the Medical Student Clerkship Director for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Morristown Medical Center. She is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. She received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University, received her Medical Degree from Jefferson Medical College, and completed her residency in OB-GYN at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr Mass has held local, regional and national leadership positions in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) for more than 25 years.She currently serves as the District III Treasurer, is a member of the Breastfeeding Expert Work Group, and represents ACOG on the United States Breastfeeding Committee and as an Editor of the AAP/ACOG Breastfeeding Handbook for Physicians, now in its third edition. Dr Mass has been invited to speak about her expertise on women's health, breastfeeding, and breast imaging at numerous medical centers around the country and is frequently quoted in the media on these and other topics. In her practice, Dr Mass enjoys taking care of women of all ages, from adolescence through menopause, and managing both high- and low-risk pregnancies. Dr Mass has repeatedly been named as a 'Top Doctor' in New Jersey Monthly magazine.
