The fourth volume in a series which reviews recent advances in behavioural and biological research on addictive behaviours, tracing the forms of addictive behaviour alongside ideas about such disorders. This book focuses on the different patterns and effects of drug abuse on the human anatomy.
The text is part of a series which reviews recent advances in behavioural and biological research on a variety of addictive behaviours and sets out to compare various forms of addictive behavior in addition to tracing the development of ideas and concepts about addictive behaviour disorders. The fourth volume in this series begins with a review of the use of brain electrical activity for the study of the biological and reinforcing properties of abused substances. The second paper focuses on recent trends in patterns of multiple drug abuse and its medical implications. The next paper examines some of the adverse effects of drugs in male and female reproductive functions and is followed by two papers concerned with improved behavioural techniques for the comparative classification of abused drugs and the analysis of drug reinforcing properties. The final paper examines the antecedents and consequences of drug use in adolescent and adult populations and critically evlauates the applications of causal models to the study of these phenomena.
