More detailed information is also provided in such a way that does not obscure what is most important and urgent. Emergencies happen fast and, therfore, clarity and consistency of information presentation is of the utmost importance in providing quick and effective guidance. This is a book for the emergency room, the delivery suite and the "front door" of the hospital. It is not a work of reference containing detailed accounts of causes, physiology and pathology, but instead concentrates on fast diagnosis and swift effective management which should get the patient up to a ward where cooler, slower decisions can be made.
