One of the responsibilities of every dog or cat owner is that of coat care. There are many and varied coat types and there is a vast difference between the time it takes to groom a Doberman and an Old English Sheepdog, a Siamese and a Persian cat. This book provides much needed guidance for groomers, breeders and owners. It will be invaluable for those taking the City and Guilds 775 Grooming exam and animal care students of all levels. Step by step grooming/clipping techniques are described for the more popular breeds of dog and cat and in each case the technique is illustrated with photographic sequences. The book also includes allied subjects such as skin care, commonly found skin parasites and basic first aid and handling.

Sue Dallas is a qualified veterinary nurse, and she has worked as a member of a nursing team in both veterinary school, veterinary practices in the UK and in North America. She has been teaching on both veterinary nursing and animal care courses for over 20 years. During that time she was involved in a number of educational and examination developments for both sectors. Over the years she has spoken at all the veterinary congresses in the UK and around the world. She has promoted nursing and care of animals through training and education. In the early 1990's she became involved in publishing as the editor of the Veterinary Nursing Journal (VNJ), the official journal of the British Veterinary Nursing Association followed by publication of text books for both veterinary nurses, auxiliaries and animal care.

Diana North and Joanne Angus have worked together in grooming for many years. They specialise in training new groomers, pet owners and those wishing to improve their skills.

Diana is now retired from hands-on-grooming but continues to be part of the education side of the industry. She is an External Verifier for the National Vocational Qualifications in Animal Care and spends time speaking to groomers groups about the 7750 Dog Grooming Qualification and generally giving guidance on career routes in grooming. Diana answers grooming questions for Your Dog magazine. She is a founder member of the Guild of Advanced Groomers.

Joanne is an Advanced Groomer and a founder member of the Guild of Advanced Groomers. She has been Groomer of the Year on two occasions and won Best in Show at Eurogroom, and a Gold Medal at Intergroom, USA.
