Teaching Parents Home-Based Strategies for Managing Disruptive Behavior

In this workshop, Dr. Robb demonstrates effective parenting techniques for children with disruptive behavior problems. She begins by summarizing the common components of manualized behavioral parent training programs and highlights the effective ingredients of these treatment packages. In addition, she explains social learning theory in the context of child learning. Lastly, she reviews the sessions of a generic manualized parent training program. Techniques demonstrated include effective ways of providing positive reinforcement, methods to ensure smoother transitions, establishing a daily report card, and other behavioral strategies.
