This atlas is designed to complement "Lever's Histopathology of the Skin". Based on morphology rather than pathogenesis, each disease is illustrated with five colour photomicrographs and is depicted within the framework of an algorithmic classification based on location, pattern and cell type.
This brillianlty presented atlas is designed to complement Lever's Histopathology of the Skin, Eighth Edition . Abundantly illustrated in vivid full colour, the atlas allows practitioners to recognise a diagnosis that can lead to a more detailed exploration of the topic. Based on morphology rather than pathogenesis, each disease is typically illustrated with 5 colour photomicrographs and is depicted within the framework of an algorithmic classification based on location, pattern and cell type. Culled from an enormous volume of cases, this important collection of images represents material from the last several decades up to newly collected slides, including many from cases of a more obscure nature and normally unavailable. Most images have been photographed on a Zeiss Axiophot Photomicroscope, allowing images that represent the state-of-the-art in optics. Clinical photographs are liberally included, offering informative and enlightening material for non-dermatologist pathologists. A CD-ROM containing Lever's Histopathology of the Skin, Eighth Edition and Synopsis and Atlas of Lever's Histopathology of the Skin is included

Part 1 Disorders mostly limited to the epidermis and stratum corneum: hyperkeratosis with hypogranulosis; hyperkeratosis with normal or hypergranulosis; hyperkeratosis with parakeratosis; localized or diffuse hyperpigmentations; localized or diffuse hypopigmentations. Part 2 Localized superficial epidermal or melanocytic proliferations: localized irregular thickening of the epidermis; localized lesions with thinning of the epidermis; localized lesions with elongated rete ridges; localized lesions with pagetoid epithelial proliferation; localized papillomatous epithelial lesions; irregular proliferations extending into the superficial dermis; superficial polypoid lesions. Part 3 Disorders of the superficial cutaneous reactive unit: superficial perivascular dermatitis;; superficial dermatitis with spongiosis (spongiosis dermatitis); superficial dermatitis with epidermal atrophy (atrophic dermatitis); superficial dermatitis with psoriasiform proliferation (psoriasiform dermatitis); superficial dermatitis with irregular epidermal proliferation (hypertrophic dermatitis); superficial dermatitis with lichenoid infiltrates (lichenoid dermatitis); superficial vasculitis and vasculopathies; superficial dermatitis with interface vacuoles (interface dermatitis). Part 4 Acantholytic, vesicular, and pustular disorders: subcorneal or intracorneal separation;; interspinous keratinocyte separation, spongiotic; intraspinous keratinocyte separation, acantholytic; suprabasal keratinocyte separation; subepidermal vesicular dermatitis. Part 5 Perivascular, diffuse, and granulomatous infiltrates of the reticular dermis: superficial and deep perivascular infiltrates without vascular damage or vasculitis; vasculitis and vasculopathies; diffuse infiltrates of the reticular dermis;; diffuse or nodular infiltrates of the reticular dermis with epidermal proliferation; nodular inflammatory infiltrates of the reticular granulomas, abscesses, and ulcers; dermal matrix fibre disorders; deposition of material in the dermis. Part 6 Tumours and cysts of the dermis and subcutis: small cell tumours; large polygonal and round cell tumours; spindle cell, pleomorphic and connective tissue tumours; cysts of the dermis and subcutis.
