Part 4 Maternal-foetal well being: age-related concerns; diagnostic evaluations of high-risk pregnancies; nutrition; environmental hazards. Part 5 The intrapartum period: essential forces and factors in labour; normal childbirth; foetal assessment. Part 6 The postpartum period: physiological and psychological adaptation; breastfeeding; family planning. Part 7 The normal newborn: adaptation to extrauterine life; biological and behavioural characteristics. Part 8 Complications of childbearing: domestic violence in pregnancy; hypertensive states of pregnancy; maternal infections; haemorrhagic disorders; endocrine and metabolic disorders; trauma in pregnancy; surgery in pregnancy; substance abuse in pregnancy; other medical complications; labour and delivery at risk; postpartum complications.
