A concise, exam-orientated revision text that helps candidates prepare for the notoriously difficult SAQ paper for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) Final examination.
This book offers a comprehensive solution to any person wishing to sit, and ultimately pass, the SAQ paper for the Final FRCA. It is designed specifically to fit the examination format, with each double page spread containing a sample question and detailed model answer, acting both as a revision guide and as a template for answering similar questions in the exam. It includes the most recent guidelines and evidence base, whilst also covering in detail areas not included in other revision books. Written by two recent and successful exam candidates, and a highly respected senior anaesthetist, this book holds the key to passing the Final FRCA examination.

James Shorthouse qualified in 2003 from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School at Imperial College, University of London. He is currently a Specialty Registrar in Anaesthetics in the Oxford Deanery. His specialist interests include ultrasound for regional anaesthesia, simulation, medical education, writing, and teaching. James is also the author of the highly successful blog, 'Passing the Final FRCA', which has received international recognition. Graham Barker qualified in 2002 from Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals, London, then trained as an Anaesthetic and ICU SHO in London and Melbourne, Australia. He is currently a Specialty Registrar within the Oxford Deanery specialising in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine, with special interests in critical care imaging (including echocardiography) and the education of under- and postgraduate students. Carl Waldmann currently holds the position of Consultant Anaesthetist and Director of Intensive Care at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. He qualified at Cambridge University and The London Hospital, and was a Medical Officer in the RAF from 1977 to 1982. He returned to be a lecturer at the Royal London Hospital, then became a senior registrar at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. Carl is also a council member of the Intensive Care Society; editor/former editor for two journals; and a member of the editorial board of the CEA of the BJA.
