The Corail Hip System was developed in 1986 as an innovative solution for hip arthroplasty and has since become the most used system across the world. This book is designed as a practical manual that will serve both as a reference for surgeons training on the system and as a source of information, tips, and tricks for the more experienced who wish to learn from the cases of other surgeons. The book is divided into three main parts. The first discusses everything that is practical about the system, including the surgical technique, treatment of complications, and the results achieved in large cohorts of patients. The second part is devoted to the crucial issue of optimal assessment and selection of approach, bearing components, and acetabular cups. The final part focuses on patient management and includes a collection of standard and complex clinical cases to which surgeons can refer when planning surgery.
The Corail Hip System, the first orthopedic implant to use hydroxyapatite, was developed in 1986 as an innovative solution for hip arthroplasty. It has since evolved to become the most used system across the world, with more than 110,000 patients benefiting from the treatment each year. This book is designed as a practical manual that will serve both as a reference for surgeons training on the system and as a source of information, tips, and tricks for the more experienced who wish to learn from the cases of other surgeons.

Health economic implications of use of the Corail Hip System are reviewed, and a collection of standard and complex clinical cases is provided to which surgeons can refer when planning surgery. The book closes by examining what the next 25 years might hold in store for the Corail Hip System, including in developing countries.

From the reviews:
"The purpose is to detail the design ... and the long-term surgical results of the CORAIL total hip replacement system. The book is written primarily for practicing orthopedic surgeons who perform frequent primary and revision hip replacements. Fellows and senior residents also will find it useful. ... This book belongs in any orthopedic library that purports to serve joint replacement surgeons and residents. ... will also serve as a reference for comparison to other systems and for recommendations in treating difficult cases."
