Depersonalization Disorder results in a feeling of being detached from life and those suffering from it may report that they seem to have become 'emotionally numb'. It can be a symptom of another disorder such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and, particularly, panic disorder, or of an illness such as epilepsy or migraine. It also occurs in its own right and/or as a side effect of certain drugs. This series of talks from the authors of "Overcoming Depersonalization Disorder and Feelings of Unreality", offers valuable insights into the disorder and helpful strategies on dealing with its symptoms. The talks are focused on the following themes: Understanding the disorder, its symptoms and causes; using cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to treat Depersonalization Disorder; and dealing with the core problem and other problems related to the disorder. Praise for "Overcoming Depersonalization and Feelings of Unreality" (the book version): 'The first of its kind, this self-help book will offer guidance, help and solace to the many sufferers of depersonalization disorder who do not have easy access to informed clinicians ...an important contribution to the self-help literature' - Daphne Simeon MD, Director, Depersonalization and Dissociation Program, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York.
