This text covers the understanding and treating of debilitating personality disorders and gives an overview of the major theories on the factors that promote personality dysfunction. Covering every disorder and their subtypes, it also outlines the best types of treatment for each disorder.
Theodore Millon, one of the world's leading authorities on personality disorders and the best-selling author of Disorders of Personality, explores the many subtleties involved in diagnosing and treating these debilitating disorders. For each clinically-recognized class of personality disorders and its subtypes, Millon and his co-authors examine all current schools of thought--including the biological, psychodynamic, interpersonal, cognitive, and biopsychosocial models--on the factors that promote personality dysfunction. And they outline the most successful effective treatment approach for each disorder.

THEODORE MILLON, PhD, DSc, has recently held positions as a professor in the Psychiatry Department of Harvard Medical School and Professor of Psychology at the University of Miami. He is currently Dean of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Personology and Psychopathology. Founder and co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Personality Disorders for the past ten years, he is also past president of the International Society for the Study of Personality Disorders. Dr. Millon is the prime author of several self-report inventories (MCMI-III, MACI, MBHI, MIPS). Among his books are Disorders of Personality: DSM-IV and Beyond, Second Edition; Toward a New Personology: An Evolutionary Model; Personality-Guided Therapy; The Millon Inventories; and a collection of his seminal papers entitled Personality and Psychopathology: Building a Clinical Science.
