Philip E. Cryer, MD is the Irene E. And Michael M. Karl Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism in Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Considered the leading expert on hypoglycemia, he has received numerous awards for his research, including the Banting Medal for Distinguised Scientific Achievement of the ADA, the Claude Bernard Medal of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, and a MERIT Award from the National Insitutes of Health. He served as President of the ADA from 1996 to 1997, and the Editor-In-Chief of Diabetes from 1992 to 1995.
