"Programming the Web with Cold Fusion" is the latest addition to the "Web Developer Series". This text has been written in a textbook fashion at an introductory level for ColdFusion MX students. Learning is facilitated with examples and exercises in each chapter. Students are encouraged to try out examples in the classroom and observe results right away. Careful attention has been placed on concepts where novice programmers encounter most difficulty. This textbook makes an ideal reference after a student has joined the workforce as a ColdFusion programmer.

Job Description: Teach undergraduate courses, serve on curriculum committee, and coordinate Internet courses. Primary academic contributions: Introduce current trends of Information Technology into the curriculum of the CS department at UWF. Courses designed and developed: Internet programming (2001) Software Methods for Remote databases (2000) Web Design For e-Commerce (1999) Courses taught: Internet Programming (COP 3813): Teach students to use popular web based programming languages such as ASP, ColdFusion, JavaScript, VB Script and HTML to create dynamic web applications. Projects designed by students include math programs, electronic loan and amortization calculators and guest books. Software Methods for Remote Databases (CIS 4340): URL http://remdb.cs.uwf.edu/ Students learn to create dynamic web pages, connect to a database stored remotely on a server using ADO and OLEDB mechanisms and perform query operations on the database to retrieve information that is required. The technology and language used was ASP, VbScript, transitioning to VB.net this fall (2002) Web Design for e-Commerce (CGS 3172): Students learn the intricacies of e-Commerce and create an electronic shopping cart that is functional. Advanced Visual Basic (COP 4990): Students learn to use the advanced components of Visual Basic and create interesting programming applications. Students were instructed on using multimedia in their applications and also learn to send messages from one computer to another computer using the powerful programming tools of VB. Micro-Packages (CGS 2570): Students were instructed on using Microsoft Office products to perform specific tasks. Since 1994 to the present we have changed three versions of Microsoft office. I was responsible to ensure the smooth transition from one version to the next. Multimedia (CGS 3865): Students were instructed to use a tool such as Hyper Studio, PowerPoint or FrontPage to create presentation products that used multimedia including animations and sounds. Projects: Owner of a small business (OPTICOM) that offers software consultancy services. Designed, developed and installed medical billing package software for local doctors offices. Designed, developed and installed patient management systems that work on the web for local medical clinics. Designed, developed and installed software to monitor student-printing quotas for the labs at UWF. Adjunct Instructor PJC (1994 -- 2000) Taught Intro to Philosophy (PHI 2010) and Intro to Logic (PHI 2100). Students were trained to apply critical thinking skills to daily life, and also to printed material. Students learnt to pick out the fallacies existing in the articles read by them and also show how rewording these statements could remove the fallacies in them. Awards: Center for Teaching and Learning Enhancement award from UWF in Summer 2001, to develop the Internet programming course. Administrative Experience: Coordinator for Internet courses offered by the department, which include Visual Basic, Micro Packages and Exploring the Internet. Streamlined all procedures for students to access relevant course information, set up initial orientation sessions, planned schedules for all classes and coordinated the final exams for 600 students. o About 7 years Software Design and Development experience with client/server, web-based and back-end applications in both Unix and Windows environments. o Project Management experience with web-based B2C application. o Experience with Object Oriented Design and Programming techniques and latest Web technologies. o C, C++, Java, JSP, XML, Unix, Oracle, Informix, Perl, ColdFusion, SQL and E-commerce - B2B and B2C design and development expertise. o Experience with relational databases like Oracle. o Experience working on multiple overlapping projects. o Thorough knowledge of the software development life cycle.
