This book aims to provide readers with a systematic understanding of traditional visual effects production, covering both internal VFX studio operations and external collaborations.
It is divided into six chapters covering a range of topics, from professional definitions of the subject to internal project collaboration, operating platforms, software usage, industry standards, and production pipelines and workflows. Additionally, it briefly explains the author’s perception of recent technological advancements in the film and creative industries, such as the application of AI technology and virtual production. Lastly, to build a more confident demo reel and ensure a successful job application, the final chapter offers suggestions and advice on creating VFX-related demo reels for entry-level positions at visual effects facilities.
To aid reader understanding, the book features hands-on exercises within specific projects, along with eight case studies including pre-recorded demonstration videos linking the theoretical knowledge described in the book to practical projects, following a simple-to-advanced progression.
This essential guidebook is designed for VFX artists at various levels, aiming to enhance their professional knowledge of visual effects production, refine their skills, and make those skills applicable in real-world production environments.
